Whether you are just visiting, or are a Cincinnati native, there are several options for family fun in the Cincinnati Ohio area. I have lived here my whole life and I still have so many things that I haven’t had a chance to try out. This list encompasses things to do in Cincinnati and the surrounding areas.
1. Kings Island.
Kings Island is located in Mason, Ohio. Kings Island is one of the top amusement parks in the United States. Rollercoasters, food, games and the water park make for lots of fun options. They have several large rollercoasters for thrill seekers like Diamondback or Mystic Timbers.
There is a nice section for the younger kids called Planet Snoopy, with lots of safe and easier going rides for the kids. They also have a large water park area, with large water slides and pools. There are a few smaller water play areas for young children. The kids will love the train ride from the amusement park to the water park.
They have several food options, including Cincinnati favorites like Larosa's and Skyline Chili. Don't forget to try a funnel cake before you leave, they are delicious.
2. Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens.
The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens is located in Cincinnati, Ohio. There are many things to do at the zoo, especially for families with children. The zoo has many different animals to see: elephants, tigers, hippos, and many many more. There are scheduled times throughout the day where you can pay to feed the giraffes. They also recently opened up an exhibit where you can walk on a path where kangaroos are free to roam.
For an extra charge, or it may be included if you have a pass, you can ride the train and the carousel. For the kids, there is also a playground right near the petting zoo. The zoo has local food options like Larosas's and Skyline Chili in addition to other foods as well.
3. Krohn Conservatory.
Krohn Conservatory is located in Eden Park in Cincinnati, Ohio. Krohn Conservatory is a beautiful large indoor garden with thousands of plants. Walk into the conservatory and you are surrounded by plants and the bubbling water fall. Krohn frequently changes exhibits, but they are mostly known for their butterfly show. They have several different rooms and themes for their plants to walk through. This is a great for an educational day and the tickets are inexpensive. They have a nice gift shop towards the end with lots of nice gift items. After visitng the conservatory, you can take a stroll through Eden Park
4. Entertrainment Junction.
Entertrainment Junction is located in Mason, Ohio. It is for children and train lovers of all ages. They have the largest indoor train display in the world. Aside from checking out the train display, they do have other activities for the family. There is a large train themed play area with lots of things to climb and toy trains to play with on the tracks. They also have a fun house area with different fun themed rooms to go through.
Entertrainment Junction has two toy stores, so your train lovers can pick up some fun memorabilia to take home. They have a small cafe so you can pick up some lunch or dinner while you take a break from train viewing.
5. Coney Island.
Coney Island is located in Cincinnati, Ohio, right next to Riverbend Music Center. Coney Island has the largest recirculating pool in North America, called Sunlite Pool. The large pool also has a very shallow end where you can walk down on a ramp, making it easy for parents to bring young children to play and swim.
They no longer have the amusement park rides they once did, but they do still have the larger water slides. In addition, they have added a new fun splash area for kids. There is also a play area away from the water with a large bounce house and other fun activities to do.
Coney Island has a couple of food areas serving the locals Skyline Chili, Larosa's and they have other food there as well.
