The Historical Golden Lamb Inn

The Golden Lamb in Lebanon, Ohio opened in 1803 and is the oldest hotel still running in the state of Ohio. The hotel is very well known for some of it's famous guests. 12 U.S. Presidents have stayed in the hotel- including George W. Bush, Ulysses S. Grant, Ronald Reagan and more.

Other famous guests include Charles Dickens, Harriet Beecher Stowe and Mark Twain.

With the hotel being over 215 years old, there have been some deaths at the hotel. Sparking the lore about different hautings at the hotel. In 1871, Clement Vallandigham accidentally shot himself on the second floor, in addition to other tragedies that have happened at the hotel.

In current time, the hotel is still open for business. They have the Golden Lamb restaurant and The Black Horse Tavern downstairs, then upstairs they have the hotel rooms. The rooms are still decorated in the style of the 1800s. They have different rooms named after some of the famous people who have stayed in them. We stayed in the Charles Dickens room. The Charles Dickens room is pictured here.

The restaurant and Tavern have more of a modern style, but they do have a few classic touches. There are some older artifacts in the lobby for viewing.

They do allow you to go upstairs and view some of the available rooms in the hotel even if you aren't staying. They will have the doors roped off so you can peak inside.

The menu for the restaurant and the tavern seem to be the same, but you are just eating in a different atmosphere. Whether you prefer an elegant dining room or a casual bar.

The menu is a very classic menu for the most part, with options that include fried chicken, pan seared lamb, sheperd's pie, in addition to other items. They boast about being "farm to table", so the focus seems to be good quality food.

If you are a bit of a history buff or love the paranormal and good food, you should definitely make the trip!
